ONLY IF YOU KNEW LOVE WAS THEIR ONLY ESCAPE BY SCOTT SEPANEK

Hi. Here is a poem I recently wrote that I hope puts a smile on your face.

Hope all is well with you. Btw, I’m a romantic at heart. To me, there is no space time continuum for not being romantic as a way of life. That said, here it is hopefully sweet & to the point.

How are you? My loneliness you may not care, a heart left behind for possible repair. My perfect match is finding that special someone before we die. To travel a thousand miles and remember every inch of the way. To be lonely on a street corner with a sign that points to -your- heart in a sea of faces that pass right by. To remember a special moment that you shared encased in time that you never left behind.

To still believe that true love indeed is the last breath you'll ever take. To consider life a journey and see your face if just for the first time. To know that you're there even if we never meet.

To know your look wasn't supposed to be so strong to cause such lack; a powerful song that made this lonely life livable and true. If only you knew…

LOVE WAS THEIR ONLY ESCAPE - It would be early in the evening as the crowd slowly began to filter into the dimly lit bistro where muffled conversations could be heard in the background as soft jazz slowly wafted in and out... There would be only two people you see; who lovingly gazed at each other’s eyes; eyes that were shut off to the world’s attractions and deceit; eyes that forgot the turbulent episodes of the past; eyes that were kindled to each other’s presence and aglow to unbridled romance and touch.

There would only be one candle on the table that would signify their love and affection. It would be a simple love. The kind you dream about. The kind that as the slowly burning embers of an all night camp fire reach far far into the night; like roasting marshmallows on the beach barefoot or taking a picture of a snowcapped mountain high above the clouds. A love that carries you away and makes you forget. A love that lasts forever...

As they pull closer to each other‘s faces and whispered words which seemed like an eternity of summer breezes, time stood still gazing into the candles light and each others eyes and softly holding hands. It would be as if they could look into the future and think about the present while being frozen in time. Being frozen in time that would erase the pain of the past.

They would feel acutely vulnerable and wish and pray that this moment would last forever and all things would be all right... drink latte and eat ice cream with reckless abandon to walk through pleasant memories that invoke laughter and smiles.

Then on down to take a stroll hand-in-hand by the waterfront and aglow to the glance at all the tiny lights in the distance.

They stayed out late & sat on a park bench overlooking a bright moonlit bay and wrote on the back of napkins all their hopes and dreams and put the date and time and promise to meet back at the same spot in a week …again and again :)

To them, love was their only escape…
